47-A is the ground floor of a mid-19th-century bungalow in Khotachi Wadi. The Crasto family has had it as their home since 1857, and continue to live on the upper floor. The bungalow was transformed with a major restoration before the gallery opened in 2022, now an iconic blue and yellow marker at the end of the lane.
The gallery aims to be an intrinsic part of the community and to be involved wholeheartedly in keeping its heritage alive. We make it our mission to involve people around us in whatever we do, working closely with James Ferreira to shine a spotlight on a way of life that most people in the city are not even aware of. We continue efforts to get city authorities involved in preservation, while finding a way to bring new life into the village without losing any of its essence. Local cuisines, festivals in good weather, heritage walks and special Christmas celebrations are on our regular agenda.
We frequently organise Khotachi Wadi heritage and architecture walks and a yearly Christmas market. Connect with us if you would like us to host you at our events.
