One of the earliest border designs, since the inception of Maheswari sarees weaving , that still continues to be a fan favourite, the simple Chatai border. Chatai- translating to ‘matting’ in Hindi, composed of a tessellated diamond pattern that resembles the diamond weave, historically done in gold colored silk. Visual inspirations of this can be found on the carving on the fort stones. Blocked in by the supplementary border of Aankh- resembling an eye on either sides.

The cotton saree made in fine 2/140s count, which was believed to be the yarn used in the 1700s for the lightness of it. Original Maheswaris are believed to be woven in this fine cotton. With this collection and the efforts to work with fine cotton that needs to undergo the starching process with Jawar aata paste is yet another traditional practice Rehwa is reviving. The Chaand Taara warp denting, with softer hues predominately taking over with pop, vibrant colored yarns popping through. When draped the stripes flow elegantly complementing the softness of the saree. Another example of an archival piece brought to life in this collection
