Kamal Mandal, translating to Lotus Disc, is a traditional Rehwa border, with 8 tear drop shaped petals flower. The Kamal, Lotus flower offered to the goddess Lakshmi at temples in and around the holy town of Maheshwar signifying her connection to creation and divine energy. This deep spiritual resonance infuses the motif with meaning, making it more than just a decorative element, it also reinforces the legacy of craft preservation upheld by Rehwa. The spiritual symbolism woven into these elements makes them truly special, allowing them to stand out as signature Rehwa Society border designs.
This first Garbh Reshmi textile in our collection is dented in a 75% silk to 25% cotton ration, lending to its more lustrous drape. The play of checks with the plainer contrast color and stripes one in subtle hues bring out the intricacy of the weave construction deftly, allowing the texture of the yarns to shine through. Traditional techniques are thoughtfully paired with contemporary colors, making this saree a testament to heritage that not only survives but evolves, refined and carried forward into today’s context. With the use of Pajni cotton yarns, this saree is in itself a part of the past.
