In the Pallav of this Chandravali Saree, Maratha miniature paintings are recreated on fabric, representing the designer’s passionate involvement in researching Marathi traditions and reviving lost weaves of the Deccan. With a focus on handloom sarees, for the last decade, his attempt has been to find contemporary expressions in them. Depicted here is the moon or chandra, which holds an important position in Hindu mythology as a deity. With many mythological stories revolving around the moon, its beauty always lures the Indian mind, becoming an inspiration to poets, artists and designers.
