Bawankhani was a place in Pune where nautch girls would entertain the Rasik Jana. This nautch girl is wearing a Tarbandi Paithani, one where checks are made of zari. This word, ‘Tarbandi’ has gone out of public memory. Guldastas (bouquets) were a favourite element in traditional Maratha paintings.
